Homemade Electrolyte Drink (Two Ways)

One thing I’ve learned about how to actually make myself do my health care treatments is to make it cute or make it delicious. As an act of self care to my body, that is often in pain, I seek to make these tasks into moments of pleasure. So, I welcome you to my new ritual.

As a migraine girlie, electrolytes save my day often and help me feel my best. But they are expensive, often taste terrible, and usually contain really small amounts of electrolytes. I’m not into paying a bunch of money for a bit of salt and fake flavours. I’m also not a huge fan of coconut water, or the price.

When researching how to make my own, I found that most recipes simply said to use sea salt. The “trace minerals” everyone mentions are so low (as in a few mgs of potassium) that I was inspired to find a delicious way that I could feel better, for cheaper.

Homemade Electrolyte Drink (Two Ways)

Electrolyte options, use one of the following:

  • ¼ tsp Celtic Sea Salt Pink Potassium Cave Salt (400mg sodium, 240mg potassium)
  • Note: This doesn’t involve a magnesium source, but I’ve skipped it since it’s generally so low in electrolyte formulations, but feel free to add a magnesium powder.
