Tempura Dandelions
Let’s deep fry some flowers. They taste like corn pops… lol
They are lovely on their own with a squeeze of lemon, in a salad or in tacos.
Tempura Dandelions
Ingredients
- 2 cups dandelion heads, from a spray and pet-free area
- 3/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cup soda water, with ice
- 1-2 cups canola or vegetable oil
Instructions
- Ensure the stems and leaves of your dandelions are removed.
- Combine flour, baking powder and salt and sift them. Add iced soda water and whisk until you have a thin consistency, similar to Yop yogurt. Adjust with more flour or water to get this consistency.
- Add oil to a small pot and heat until 375-400. Dip your dandelions into the batter and dry until golden brown, flipping the flowers after 1-2 minutes. Drain on paper bag and season with salt.
